“Everyone who knows me knows that I love a challenge.”
Michael West
Attorney
Michael has been an attorney for three decades. “Lawyering” has been his family heritage for many years before that. His father, and law partner for more than 20 years, the late retired State District Judge David West, inspired and motivated Michael to be an attorney. Michael’s father taught Michael to not just “think better”, but “do better.” This was for the purpose of actually helping people in their time of need.
It is unusual that a father and son can work so closely together, as Michael and his father did, but more surprising is that Michael’s wife is his office manager. Some say that Michael is affable to be able to work so closely with his wife and dad, but those that know best will say that his wife, Laura, is a saint, and he and his dad were like-minded and respectful of each other’s efforts and talents.
Michael is continuing his father’s passion to help people in need. It may be as simple as answering a question, or more in-depth work in helping people in their time of need.
After practicing law in downtown Houston, Michael decided to move out of downtown, as it was inconvenient for his clients to meet with him. Now, Michael meets his clients in his Pasadena office and via Zoom if needed. Michael makes special accommodations, as required, for after hours and home visits.
For most of his career, Michael has been representing people in their claims for personal injury and wrongful death, for injuries incurred in automobile/truck accidents, the workplace, and many other places. He continues to successfully secure compensation for clients who have been wrongfully injured.
More recently, Michael has developed a strong practice in “Elder Law.” Michael’s desire is to help people protect their assets, for them to enjoy, provide for their needs, and for leaving a legacy to their heirs. Michael was so determined to provide superior services in the area known as Elder Law, that he attended the Elder Law College, and he has dedicated many hours of intense training in this field of law.
A key aspect of Michael’s life is giving back to the community. He leads bible study for adults in his local church, as well as in a local group of an international bible study organization. In the past, Michael has served as Chairman of the Board of Pasadena’s Communities in Schools, the Executive Committee of the Board of Director’s of the Pasadena’s Chamber of Commerce and Michael enjoys hunting and fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. When his children were young, he enjoyed serving as a leader of his son’s Cub Scout’s Den, Chaplain of his Son’s Boy Scout Troop, as well as coaching each of his children’s teams in basketball, soccer and baseball.
